Wednesday, February 01 - The European Union is working on regulations that will make the quality designations for wines produced by member nations more consistent. To find out about Quality Designations in Spain, listen to A Year of Wine podcast here.

Tuesday, January 31 - It might surprise you that perhaps the greatest Chardonnay based wine in the world is France's venerable Chablis. In America, we have come to think of Chablis as cheap white jug wine. Find out why by listening to A Year of Wine podcast here.

Monday, January 30 - The American palate is growing up and getting more sophisticated. In an effort to garner more of the lucrative American market, European wines are evolving as well. Take Mateus Rose. The style is more serious than its distant 1970's ancestor. Try a nice Mateus Rose with Tuscan Bread Soup of a light winter lunch. Perfection! For more on the pairing, listen to A Year of Wine here. Click here for the soup recipe.

Sunday, January 29 - Today's A Year of Wine podcast is different than the usual wine and food pairing. If you ever wanted to know what Troglogytes, King John and the Right Bank in Bordeaux had in common... then you've come to the right place. Click here to listen to the podcast.

Saturday, January 28 - You have probably heard of Barolo, considered by many to be Italy's greatest wine. And its neighbor, Barbaresco. Both wines are made from the long-lived Nebbiolo grape. Tuesday, January 24 - OK, I got an email from fellow blogger, Becki Robins, who wanted to borrow our photo of a Sachertorte from our A Year of Wine Blog. Of course, no problem. But here's the thing, her blog is called Travel by Stove and her premise is that she will cook "one meal from every nation on earth." She writes about here experiences and posts the recipes. It is a spectacular idea! Very, very abigslice, if you know what I mean. Please check out her blog here. You won't be sorry.

Pinot Noir is one of the trickiest grapes to grow and vinify. Conditions need to be perfect and those conditions have existed for centuries in Burgundy, France. But the grape also seems to be at home in Oregon. Learn more about Oregon Pinot Noir by listening to A year of Wine here. The pairing? Pork with Marionberry Sauce. Get that recipe here.
