best lemonade ever
It was a hot day, a really hot day. Clare and I decided that the second recipe from our lemon stash would be a thirst-quenchingly tart lemonade. The secret to good lemonade is in making the syrup first.

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
juice from 4-6 lemons, strained (more or less depending on your taste for tart)
4 additional cups cold water

1. Combine one cup of water and one cup of sugar in a heavy sauce pan over medium high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring frequently, until the sugar dissolves completely. This is your simple syrup. Let the syrup cool, then refrigerate until cold.

2. Add the syrup to the lemon juice and mix well.

3. Add four more cups of cold water and mix. Pour it over a tall glass of ice and watch the heat become a distance memory!
