Romance is really very easy. Here are some simple, yet highly romantic, things that you can do to spice up any day. One: write llittle romantic notes and leave them where your loved one will unexpectedly find them. |
|
You can't say the word romance without saying "Roma". Spend the day with a loved one preparing a delicious and sensual Italian meal. This romantic dinner is a great gift to give yourself and your partner. Take a day. Spend it together cooking amazing food and sample some beautiful wines. OR you can give this meal as a gift. |

Two: start a fire, literally and figuratively. A fire in the fireplace is a sure way to warm the heart. No fireplace? Candles placed around the room are instant romance. And most romantic of all... a candlelit bubble bath! |

Few countries can match Italy's variety of local cuisines and quality of wine. Even in a country of stand-out dishes we think we have come up with a couple of surprises and have focused our attention on the "heel of the boot" of the peninsula. This area is known as Puglia (or sometimes Apulia) and is famous for its seafood, rich vegetable dishes and delicious yet inexpensive wines. Our wine selections are named after three of the region's cities, near which they are produced: Primitivo, Copertino and Salice Salentino. All three are very affordable (around $15.99 a bottle) and are floral, fruity and perfect matches for the cuisine. Enjoy! |

Three: cook together. Plan a romantic Italian dinner. Spend the day buying the freshest ingredients. Make your own pasta - a sensual delight! Sample the wines. Take the phone off of the hook!. Turn off the TV. This is no 30 minute meal. Reclaim your kitchen. Make it a living room! Make it a LOVING room! |

Start with steamed mussels, a delicious appetizer, and we have covered them in a rich white wine sauce. The eggplant rolls look fancy but are surprisingly easy to make - and we guarantee that the flavor will surprise you. (this recipe happens to be one of Ted's favorites) To accompany the eggplant we chose pasta-stuffed tomatoes which can be served hot or cold. Add a slice of bruschetta and the main course is complete. But there is a wonderful tradtion in Rome where dinner is followed by a relaxing stroll, in the direction of Tazza D'Oro for Some of their delicious granita. We have recreated their recipe and just wait until you try this amazing espresso ice and whipped cream. |

The evening ended with a traditional Italian digestif, Strega. Originally called Alberti's Medicinal Cure, the sales were less than spectacular. But capitalizing on the myth that a witch haunts the area, Alberti changed the name to the Italian word for witch, Strega! And this saffron yellow, very herby concoction stays true to it's name. It has been known to bewitch unsuspecting couples with a heady aroma and exotic taste (not to mention it's 40 proof)! |
