12 ounces chocolate chips*
2 quarts half and half
6 cups milk
1 pint heavy cream whipped for topping
6 tablespoons malt (optional or to taste)
2 teaspoons vanilla
1. Pour half and half and milk in a sauce pan and heat.
2. In a double boiler melt the chocolate chips. (this can be done in the microwave - but be careful not to burn the chips)
3. Add the melted chips to the warm milk.
4. Add the vanilla and the malt.
5. Top with a heaping spoon of whipped cream.**
* We used Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Chips.
** Traditionally this hot cocoa is served in a bowl.
